When my husband retired from the military, he said we could go anywhere I wanted, and here's where we landed. There was a reading coach position at Blacksburg Primary, and my first Master's is in reading language arts instruction. They also didn't have an assistant principal, so I filled that role and became Assistant Principal.
We got here in 2020, and it was really in January of 2022 when we started talking to Darren and Jada, who own this building. We had gone to breweries and taprooms with them, and the idea for a taproom here in Gaffney was born.
We have rotating taps from different breweries—we have a spread of different styles always on tap, but the specific beer rotates around. Then there are the chicken wings! We make two homemade sauces that are very unique to here that people absolutely love. One of them is called Cheerwine Barbecue, and then the other one is our Derailed sauce.
The people that come in here are the very best. When you walk in, you may not know a single person, but by the time you leave, you have now befriended four or five different people and are texting about when to meet up here next time.
The support of the people that come in here has given a lot to me, and I hope we have given a lot to them. It really just boils down to more than beer—it’s about the people and the relationships.
